Slow Boat to Greece ~ OCA 2018

Cruise Sardinia, Corsica and Elba and then sail in the wake Odysseus from Sicily to Ithaca. Explore lost civilizations, hike old footpaths, be stunned by the natural fireworks of one of Europe’s most active volcanoes and learn how to make olive oil. These are just a few of the surprises that await modern-day seafarers propelled by the winds of antiquity who sail the Mediterranean Sea.

After three years of planning, Bill Eisenhauer and Gabriela Hirt took their two kids out of school, rented the house in Victoria and set off on a 15-month journey from Sardinia to Greece onboard their 12-metre ketch Hippodackl IV.

Along the way they rediscovered what it means to live in the moment while immersing themselves in ancient history, bustling harbours and dramatic nature.
