Heaven Can Wait Charity Sailing Regatta 2018

Entries are now open for the 2018 Heaven Can Wait Charity Sailing Regatta on beautiful Lake Macquarie.

Off the Beach boats can choose to do either the Short One Lap Dash or – if they have a yardstick of 97.5 or lower or are a 505 Class and they have their own Chase Boat, the Long One Lap Dash. All other boats can do either the Short One Lap Dash or Long One Lap Dash and / or the 12 Hour Race and / or the 24 Hour Race.

So, it’s up to you – are you up to doing the Classic Events – the Short or Long One Lap Dash, are you challenged by the 12 Hour Race or do you have the endurance and stamina to do the 24 Hour Race. Whatever you choose to enter, remember you are helping to raise money for a great cause – the Hunter Branch of Cancer Council NSW and specifically, their Home Help Program. So get your entry in now and start your team fundraising activity.

Remember, the funds you raise may help you in the Bribe and Corruption scandal involving the handicap committee who are offering to improve a participants handicap in the Long One Lap Fundraisers Dash depending on how big the brown paper bag holding the dosh is, so get an early start and you could be a front runner in this trophy event. Clearly there will still be PHS handicap winners and largest Fund Raiser trophy winners, but the Fundraiser Dash will add a touch of spice.

And don’t forget the Charity Dinner and our special guests.

Have you ever wondered what the design considerations are for the foils and dagger boards used on the Americas Cup catamarans – Brett Ellis is an engineer who up until recently was contracted to the Artemis Americas Cup Team to design their underwater appendages. Brett has a wealth of knowledge in this highly specialised field and is just the right person to enlighten you on what the future holds for foiling on mono hulled boats.

Dr Craig Gedye is a researcher with the Calvary Mater and the University of Newcastle. He is particularly interested in and will enlighten us on the work he is doing with kidney, prostate and brain cancer, and more specifically, how these cancers change their form and function to evade treatments. Both of our guests will be interviewed by Helene O’Neil – well known ABC Newcastle sports commentator and cancer survivor. Book your tickets now by emailing hcwdinner@rmyctoronto.com.au. Tickets must be paid for at time of booking and Credit cards are accepted (Visa and Mastercard).
