Excelerate, the business best-known for pioneering rapidly deployable, independent and resilient broadband via satellite in the emergency services sector, is now staking its claim on a share of the in the superyacht market.
Its innovative network solutions have changed the way emergency command & control operations respond to major incidents worldwide. However, the company has now added satellite services for private yachting as another string to its bow.
Most superyacht owners need to have the option of staying connected with their businesses when on board. Excelerate found itself popular during the Winter Refits 16/17, offering useful, reliable and available broadband with the aim of making business on board is feasible.
The company also claims it can extend the range of things owners and their families/guests can do when relaxing. Obviously, phone, computers, televisions and even Blu-ray players all have the option for Internet connectivity, but are ineffective without a reliable connection; something it says it can change. Now, we have begun to see a range of testimonials back up these claims, from Captains on Sunseeker yachts to the Managing Director of SYM (Superyacht Management).
For example, Matt McKay, Captain of Sunseeker 131 ZOZO, was pleased with the company’s NOC service and inventive problem-solving for superyachts. He said: “Excelerate’s satellite broadband service is quite simply the best… nothing is too much trouble and they feel more like a partner then a supplier. They are also fantastic value and because they develop and integrate their own solutions they are always showing us ways to make life on board better, safer and more enjoyable.”
Customers have also been impressed with the technology that the company fits. The Captain of M/Y Blush said that the equipment the technicians installed was brand new at the time of fitting and that their connection is always reliable, with good speed and fast technical support on the rare occasion it is needed.
Another big part of NOC is how well members of staff listen to problems and the accessibility of all staff, from Chairman to support engineer. Captain of Sunseeker’s 155 Princess AVK Julian Sincock praised Excelerate for this, and said: “I am delighted to say that they worked with us throughout our Winter Refit and even helped us in areas that were not in their remit.”
Ben Young, MD of SYM, arranged for Excelerate to kit out 46m Benetti Wild Orchard 1 on an urgent request. He was delighted to see the yacht, owner and crew having a great season with Excelerate, meaning one less thing for the busy Captain to worry about.
It seems that slowly but surely, the business is proving itself in the yachting market, echoing its powerful reputation in the Emergency Services Sector. As Winter 17/18 Refit decisions draw closer, we look forward to seeing how the market adapts to Excelerate.
